Kumo & Raiu

Thanks for looking after them — they’re happy to have your company! They eat four times a day: the automatic feeder handles breakfast and lunch (8:30am, 11:30am, 4:00pm), and you handle dinner around 7:30pm. The schedule shows what each day needs; the instructions below cover how. Reach out anytime!

Dinner

Around 7:30pm — one can of wet food each, mixed with chicken bone broth.

  • Grab the chicken bone broth from the fridge (one may already be open). Shake it well.
  • Pour 1/2 cup of broth into the beaker and microwave 25s so it turns liquid.
  • Get two steel bowls (bottom drawer right of the sink), a spoon (top drawer), the masher (bottom drawer), and the food scale.
  • Tare the scale with the bowls on it.
  • Open both wet food cans, add one can per bowl, and mash.
  • Add equal heated broth to each bowl — roughly 200g net each (a bit over/under is fine).
  • Set the bowls down by the fridge.
  • Rinse the saucepan, add a little water, and put it back on the stove — this keeps the cats off the hot stove.
  • Watch them eat: Kumo steals Raiu’s food. Raiu takes ~10 min; once he’s done, Kumo can finish.
  • Put all the equipment in the dishwasher.

Water

Top up the water fountain in the bedroom with a full jug (the jug on the counter), per the schedule.

Kibble

Check both automatic dispensers. If either is below half, top it up — extra dry food is in the closet.

Litter

About twice a week — see the schedule.

  • The litter bin is on the right side of the automatic litter box (office).
  • As you pull the bin out, shake it to level the litter.
  • Remove the orange liner cover, cinch the liner, and toss it in the kitchen trash.
  • Add a fresh liner (on the shelves by the extra litter), put the bin back, and lock it.
  • Set the box to maintenance mode (press menu until it rotates up) and pour in ~half a container of fresh litter.
  • Press OK to exit maintenance mode.

Dishwasher

Run it whenever it’s full or you’re low on bowls.

  • Detergent (liquid) is under the sink: add a line on the inside of the door and fill the slot, then close the slot.
  • Start it by turning the dishwasher on then off, then closing the door (power-cycle or it won’t start).
  • When it’s done, crack the door open to dry — use the step stool to hold it.
